THE EIGHT DESIGNS:

I used the repeated pattern of the Egyptian hieroglyphic for papyrus for both the inner and outer circles for "Alpha Centauri."

The Egyptian Eye of Horus decorates the center of "Amun Re."

I used a very iconic Egyptian hieroglyphic, the Ankh symbol as the basis for the "Council of Twelve" mandala. It gives the impression of 12 people holding hands in a circle.

King Tut's falcon amulet gave me the inspiration for "Falcon." I used just the head and the wings instead of the whole falcon, creating an impression of a portal above the head.

When we visited Hathor's temple in Dendara, I noticed on one of the ceilings a carving of a sun with rays emanating from it which inspired "Re."

"Resurrection" came about from seeing another King Tut amulet depicting the scarab being carried off in a Pharaoh's boat to the afterlife.

For "Scarab" I incorporated several Egyptian hieroglyphic symbols repeated around the circle: scarab, papyrus, and the god Thoth.

With "Tut" I happened to notice the top of an alabaster box at a King Tut exhibit in the old Cairo museum. It contained row after row of patterns. I used the patterns and repeated them around in a circle, thus creating the intricate "Tut" mandala.
