THE EIGHT DESIGNS

If you look at the basic structure of the "Beauty" mandala, you can see the stick-like representation of a human (think da Vinci's man). At the head, hands and feet, the pattern looks like each is waving...as if to say 'look at the real me'. From that center, our true beauty radiates outward.

The memory of a former boyfriend inspired the "Diamond in the Rough" mandala. My parents saw only his exterior appearance, overlooking the gem I saw and felt from inside. Personally we are all diamonds in the rough. The brilliant light of our souls becomes more visible as we carve and polish our lives on our way to spiritual evolution.

The "Enlighten Up" mandala lets us see how confusing the way to enlightenment can seem. We circle around, twist and turn in every direction, following this path and that path. However if we just stop a moment to ponder The Way from within, it becomes a much simpler journey and a more joyful one, if we so choose.

A long time ago I received some wonderful advice about being perfect. As spiritual beings we are already perfect and thus perfection is a moot point. As human beings perfection is unattainable mainly because, by whose standard are we to follow? And as we all know, we are our own worse critic so perfection is fleeting. Striving for "Excellence" on the other hand, means that we continually strive to improve ourselves much like following a spiral. It looks like we come back to the same place however we do so from a different level or perspective.

The "Into the Light" mandala reminds us that we are all worthy and deserving of being here regardless of what others say or do. What we have to offer has value. It's start with a simple mantra: "I am worthy."

We often hear the phrase "Self-fulfilling Prophecy" in its negative context. In this case it's intended to show it in a positive way, much in line with manifestation. We take a thought (center) and then channel it and form it into reality (the outer sections).

How often do we applaud our own victories? We usually move onto the next thing on the list. The "Sweet Victory" mandala cheers us on and wants us to take the time to savor our victories regardless of how large or how small.

"The Cycle of Life" mandala tells us to know and honor our own true light as well as knowing and honoring this very same light in others. We honor the light best when we let it shine
