THE EIGHT DESIGNS:
I designed the "Butterfly" mandala from a dead, completely-intact butterfly I found on one of my morning walks; putting them wing-to-wing created a whole new kaleidoscope-like pattern.
Using an origami-like style, I drew a spiral pattern of doves flying outward from the center, which turned it into a star-like design which I call “Doves”.
While visiting an old building in Cleveland, OH, I saw this beautiful iron work design of dragonflies and flowers. It inspired me to create the "Dragonflies" mandala.
My inspiration for the "Dreamcatcher" mandala came from a red tail hawk feather given to me from a Lakota Indian friend of mine.
The "Fly a Way With Me" mandala takes an abstract approach to overlapping butterflies from outward from the center.
I created the "Hearts as One" mandala after a visitor to my art booth shared a dream she had from the night before about flying hearts...it consists of 84 hearts.
The "Wings" mandala is an abstract take on all sorts of wings fluttering about.
My inspiration for the "Yellowjacket" mandala came from an flying yellow-jacket wasp that flew onto my plate of food and stayed long enough for me to notice this pattern on its backside.
